Better built than virtually everything other chandelier I’ve posted.

What is your position on bulbs contoured to look like flame? Artistic touch or pretentious silliness?

These bulbs are on mine, chandelier from the 30s (probably). I think the smooth bulbs with the tapered top like the one you've shown are hmmmm not my favorite.

Very nice.
Yeah... many chandeliers are very poorly made.
And this brings back memories of shopping for a chandelier after my parents decided they wanted a new chandelier for the dining room.
And I recall my dad having an absolutely ridiculous, impossible-to-find requirement that the
chandelier
bulbs must
face
down.
If I knew then what I know today, I would have told him that he was being stupid.
Anyway... We looked and looked... Nada.
And then one day my parents came home with the new chandelier... the bulbs pointed up like they do on most chandeliers... and it was/is an ugly piece of cheaply made, poorly fitting, overpriced crap.
My siblings and I reacted with a “All that shopping around and you come home with THIS???”
Apparently it came from Italy... but in my view if that was true, then it was made in the same factory where the shittiest 70s era Fiats were made.

I’ve seen quite a few similar to this in stately homes and old grant government buildings.
Different sized ones, larger at the top of a central staircase with smaller ones flan king each side of the bottom of the staircase.
Simple, yet elegant. Classy but not show-offie.

Cool, th e glass panels reminded me of material from that era. How does the rest of the house compare to new builds?

Superior to most of what I see.

Some 70s custom houses can be pretty nice.
